Journey through Teotihuacan - continued
The Plaza of Water When we win the war over temptation the journey continues. However the process becomes quite different. We no longer fall to the temptations of lies that go against our self, however our emotions are still not completely clean. In the place of water we cleanse our emotional wounds and purify our emotional body. Water represents the emotions that flow through us. This level of transformation is common in many traditions from Egypt to Christianity. In common sense terms it is about awareness and forgiveness.
In the purification of the emotional body all the emotions are surrendered to the Mother Earth. This process can be challenging. We must witness every emotion and have the awareness not to believe the story that the emotions push our mind to attach to it. The mind can be very clever and tempt us to believe a justification or a judgment. When we do, we reinforce an agreement not based in truth, but in personal drama. The path through healing the emotions is forgiveness. First we forgive others, then God, and then finally we can forgive ourselves. With the purification of the emotions, forgiveness is complete and the war is over. There is no longer anyone to forgive. When we release all the emotions, we find that emotions continue to come out of us. However, the only emotions that move through us are based in Love. When we live in this way, our relationship with the world changes, we are no longer warriors, because the war is over. Our relationship with our self and the world is based in Love and Respect.
The Plaza of Air The journey continues from the world of emotions to the world of perception and connection beyond at levels beyond our mind and thinking. Our relationship with the world and humanity changes. Before this point we might often feel alone in the world. We may often think and believe that we are all one but we usually don't experience life from this point of view. We have lived in an intellectual concept until this point in the process. In the place of air we undergo the transformation of our perception being thinking based to experience our connection with the one soul of humanity, and of all living things. When we experience ourselves from this expanded consciousness, we move beyond a limited belief of ourselves as separate. To do this we must let go of our whole perspective of ourselves as an individual. We surrender the dream of our individual self.
The experience of knowing all other living beings as an extension of our self is a radical departure from the intellectual concept of it. It is the difference between having an intellectual concept and believing 100%. When you believe it, your behavior changes, you know that going against another person, is going against yourself. Respect for yourself and for others takes on a profound new level.
The Plaza of Fire The journey of the transformation of our perception continues. I our life we have come to think of ourselves as something that has been created, and a force of Life that is the Creator. As your perception changes you can clearly identify that force of life passing through you physical body. From there it is just a small shift to perceive yourself as that force of life passing through the physical body. You realize yourself as life, and observe how that body experiences you.
We expand and transform the perception of ourselves from being a manifestation of life to the force that manifests. We realize that we are both the Dreamer and the Dream of Creation. We are the manifestations of life, and we are Life giving birth to our own manifestation. Our perception of this does not come as an intellectual concept that is read in a book and talked about. It is experienced as a level of consciousness that cannot be explained with words. In the ancient mystery schools around the world the expansion of consciousness is called the purification of fire
The Recreation With our newfound awareness of what we are, we focus our attention back into the creation of our life. We choose to re-create our life in a brand new way. We create a brand new with the awareness that we are the artist. In this level of awareness we create with Love. With awareness, Love is the obvious choice. There are of billions of choices of how we will express Love, but Love is our expression. When choices are so obvious, Life becomes so simple. We decide to live our life in a Love communion with ourselves, others and with life, with no expectations. We decide to live our lives with Gratitude, Love, Loyalty and Justice.
When we created our life the first time, we didn’t have the awareness of all the results of our actions. We did not know what we were doing. This is what we discovered early in our journey. This was the creation of the dream of the first attention. When we recreate our life, using the attention in the direction of love and truth, we are creating our life for the second time. We call this the dream of the second attention.
The Pyramid of the Moon The Pyramid of the Moon lies at the end of the Avenue of the Dead. It is the icon that guides the journey through all the plazas of transformation. It rises high above the surroundings and can be seen from most places on the grounds of Teotihuacan. It represents the unbending, unwavering, foundation of Love that is the force of Life calling us back to consciousness. It is in love that we find wholeness, completeness, and peace with the world.
The journey through the Avenue of the Dead is a continual surrendering of our old ways of fear to the Death. We surrender our beliefs, our emotions, point of view of our individual self, and any idea of what we are. The journey could be compared to the caterpillar that lives a complete life, only to instinctually surrender itself to building a cocoon for its own transformation. There is no way for the caterpillar to understand its own transformation. It is unlikely that it understands why. It only knows that it must surrender itself and the dream of what it is. Through its action of surrendering itself to death, it is reborn into a whole new life, the life of freedom as a butterfly. It may not be clear to us in the process where we are going, or why we are doing what we are doing. That is because it is difficult for you to realize yourself as butterfly until the death of your old beliefs and images of yourself.
The Temple of the Butterflies The masters who had re-created their personal dream to one of Heaven on Earth, lived in the Temple of Butterflies. Heaven is a dream that exists on earth, and is waiting for us to dream it. We do not need to die physically to experience Heaven. It is only the dream of what we learned to believe we are that needs to die. Heaven is a dream that we can experience in this world while our body still lives. The Temple of the Butterflies was home for the Dreamers of Heaven in Teotihuacan. It is in the Temple of the Butterflies that we merge with the Dream of Heaven.
The Pyramid of the Sun Of all the dreams that we pass through, all that is created comes from one Source. In Teotihuacan, that source was represented by the Sun. In the way that all life in this solar system is made possible by the Sun, the Toltecs use the Sun to represent the source of all Life. In the end of the journey through Teotihuacan, we climb to the top of the Pyramid of the Sun. In the ceremony there we make a powerful intention, to journey back to source of all life, the source of ourselves. It is in this ceremony that we intend to merge with the Infinite. This is a great leap of faith into the abyss of life.
The journey through Teotihuacan represents a journey of transformation of our personal dream and us. This process can take many years, or can happen in one moment of enlightenment. We do not get to know how long it will take, what life will look like along the way, or what it will be in the end. We are taking a journey into the unknown world of ourselves. What we get to know is the choice we are left with; will we stay in our own dream of life as it is, or will we take the longest journey of all, the journey into the Self?
The teachings that facilitate the transformation through Teotihuacan are the same teachings and processes of transformation provided by the Medicine Bag and other workshops that I teach. The Medicine Bag practices provide the tools and exercises for us to travel the same journey of realization as any Spiritual path of awakening. Spiritual awakening is nothing more than learning to break the false beliefs in the mind and to perceive the immensity of life all around us.
This same process of transformation has been taught in mystery schools through out the world. |
